Four 2016 beauty trends you’ll love
Stop that crazy contouring and file down those long, pointy claws. It’s time to let 2015’s beauty trends go and step into a new era of style.
From makeup to nails to brows, here are four of our favorite 2016 beauty trends to look out for this year. Get on board now and you’ll have the whole year to play with them.
1. Blue eye makeup:
Whether it’s cobalt liner or a splash of blue across the lids, consider adding a little color to your eyes this year. Be careful not to overdo it; it’s not 1986 anymore. Modern blue shadow is a little subtler. Look for pastels and light teals.
Or opt for a darker blue shadow, in place of your smoky blacks and deep browns. We love Nars’ Dual Intensity shadow in navy. Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Navy, $29 (plus Cash Back), Sephora.com
2. Glitter lids:
Glitter is huge for 2016, especially on your lids. Glitter of all colors is in, but we especially like the more “neutral” tones (if glitter can be considered neutral), such as brown and silver/grey. Check out Urban Decay’s Moondust shadow, a patch of fun silver lid sparkles that is sure to brighten your face for a fun night out. Maybe skip this look on a serious day at work, though. Urban Decay Moondust in Moonspun Eye Shadow, $21, Ulta.com
3. Subtler brows:
You can relax your eyebrows in 2016. No more perfectly, overly coiffed eyebrow fuzz. Instead, blend more and follow the natural shape of your arches. Don’t be afraid to let them get a little bushy, as long as you can keep that in control.
Keep your stray hairs in place and subtly shape your brows with an eyebrow razor, instead of getting a full-blown wax job or spending all day plucking. Remember, don’t overdo it.
And consider coloring them in with eyebrow powder instead of a pencil. Whatever you do, comb and blend well and keep it free-spirited.
4. French, with a twist:
For your fingertips, French tips are big in 2016, but with a different spin. Instead of a smooth arch across the tips of your nails, try geometric, angular shapes or painted points in bright and bold colors. On a neutral or clear base, try a line of green or dark oxblood tips like the Butter London Nail Lacquer in La Moss, $15, Ulta.com.
