Great fitness tech tools for your next workout
by Shelley Langenhorst
Do you want to kick your workout into the fat burning zone? Or just measure your steps?
In this digital age, there is a plethora of tech products that can help bring your fitness to the next level. Try these tools.
Pump up your workout with a playlist
One of the best (and often most affordable) fitness tech investments you should make is an MP3 or other music player for the gym. Upbeat, high-energy music will have you running faster and feeling more energized during your workouts.
Moderate with a heart rate monitor
Heart rate monitors help you find the desired level of exertion for your body – that is, the intensity that is really working your body without pushing yourself too hard and risking injury.
You can use a heart rate monitor while weight lifting, running or taking a Zumba class. They’re universal for exercise.
Track your runs with a GPS
Serious runners will want to consider investing in a GPS watch like the Garmin Forerunner 305 from Amazon. Not only does this watch track your distances, but it will also keep track of routes, pace and splits (how fast each separate mile was run).
This information downloads to your computer for a high-tech, yet easy way to improve your running performance.
Time your workouts
You can also use the timer for circuit workouts. Simply set for a minute per round and it will let you know when to switch to your next move.
Walk it off
If you’re looking for a simpler tech tool to help with your fitness, a pedometer from Walmart is a great starting point. Strap it to your shoe to see just how many steps you take daily. Aim for an average of 10,000 steps for an easy way to take care of your body.
