The Sweetest Thing: fashion, personal style and beauty reviews
Emily Gemma is the creator of The Sweetest Thing. When we saw her rocking cute outfit after cute outfit, pink lipstick and mixing and matching prints and colors, we knew she was the sweetest thing. We are so happy to introduce you to her. Meet Emily …
Where I’m based: Currently, I would claim the south/mid-west as my base simply because we are currently ‘homeless’. John is doing his fourth year medical school rotations in a new city each month so we are hopping from place to place!
How long I’ve been blogging: January of 2012. Seriously blogging, January 2013.
Blog/business basics: In the past six months, I have focused more on fashion, my personal style and beauty reviews.
What’s the story about your blog’s name? It’s called The Sweetest Thing after a U2 song. Driving home from work one evening, it came on and I always enjoyed listening to it. It hit me when it said, “a blue eyed boy met a brown eyed girl, oh! Oh! The Sweetest Thing!” At the time, I’d been telling my family I would start a little blog so that they could see photos of what we were up to and it hit me that I should call it The Sweetest Thing.
What do you enjoy most about blogging? I enjoy sharing my passion with others as well as networking and meetings others who share similar interests. Not to mention, I have a degree in Marketing and my MBA and I am not able to put that to use since we are constantly moving so I am able to work with businesses and use my education to their benefit.
Guilty pleasure: Cheesecake
Last thing I bought: Baseball cap from J. Crew.
How would you define your style? Yikes, I hate to say preppy but really I think that’s how it would be defined. Preppy and girlie.
Do you have a go to lip shade? In the summer I wear pink — specifically Candy Yum Yum by MAC. In the winter I prefer reds and maroons. I typically always wear MAC!
What is one unexpected color combo that you love wearing? You know, unexpected is how I get dressed in the morning. I recently wore a polka dot skirt with a plaid top — not what most would expect, but I felt like it was different and fun!
What’s your caffeine of choice? Diet Coke and Starbucks Blonde Roast!
