Beauty and fashion resolutions for 2013
Raise your right hand & swear on your stack of fashion magazines that in 2013, you’ll be true to your style and have fun getting dressed every morning. Here are some of our beauty and fashion resolutions for 2013 to keep a fresh look.
Invest in a romantic skirt or dress: You know, the kind of piece you want to display in the forefront of your closet and that you look forward to wearing on dates or special occasions. We especially love the luxe cuts and details on dresses from Max Studio. A couple of our faves: The chiffon drop waist dress that gives a modern-day Gatsby silhouette, which builds on our excitement for the forthcoming movie adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” and the elegant simplicity of this slate dress with shoulder detailing.
Organize your sock drawer: Buy a sock organizer for your drawer — like this one from The Container Store — and you’ll save time in the morning when matched socks are right there for your picking. While you’re at it, snap up a few fun pairs of socks. Some of our favorites are Happy Socks at Madewell.
Take care of your bras: Avoid drying them in a machine and instead lay them out to air dry. You’ll save the elastic and underwires and make them last longer.
Give your neckline a rest: Embellished collars and large, chunky necklaces were all the rage in 2012. This year, add in some more delicate statement pieces, like this burnished geo charm necklace for just $4.80 from Forever 21.
Try out emerald green: It’s been dubbed the color of the year for 2013. Lucky green for a year that contains lucky number 13.
Plan outfits: At least a few days a week, set out your outfit the night before — especially when you have a hectic day ahead of you. Planning outfits the night before will let you creatively experiment with new color combinations and remix your wardrobe. Keep a go-to outfit in your closet that you always feel great in — it will curb that little mound of clothes that grow on your floor when you have a tough time finding something to wear and tear through your closet.
Take care of your sunglasses: These accessories travel in your purse and your beach bag. Make sure that you keep them scratch-free and safe in a cutesy case, like this floral print cat-eye case from Forever 21.
