Nicole avoids the GRE with A Dash of Gold
Nicole is a 20-something blogger who started her blog, A Dash of Gold, in an effort to put off studying for the GRE. And we are sure glad she did. Her down-to-earth personality and stylish outfits make this blog a fun respite for the middle of the day. She loves Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and has a thing for gold accessories. Meet Nicole …
Where are I’m based: I’m based in the District of Colombia but am originally from California.
How long I’ve been blogging: I blogged pretty haphazardly to procrastinate from GRE studying for about three months and then got more serious about blogging (and not studying) about three months ago. If you’re curious, no I’m not in grad school yet.
Blog/business basics: The District of Colombia is obviously more known for its politicians than style bloggers, so blogging is a personal-style creative outlet for me. I blog about my personal style which is all about remixing classic closet staples with affordable trendier pieces. I’m also a total beauty product junkie and love sharing new things I’ve found.
What’s your favorite thing about blogging? The community! It is such a community of inspiration and really fantastic people!
Other blogs I love: Kendi Everyday, The Small Things Blog and What Courtney Wore.
Guilty pleasure: Bravo TV
Fav stores: J. Crew, Nordys, Target and Lulus.
If you won the lotto what would you do? Go to Disneyland! And probably do a bit of shopping.
What is your most loved item in your closet? Currently it is my Madewell transport tote.
Did your style transform when you moved from San Fran to DC? I tried to not let it, but it has a bit. DC is much more conservative than San Francisco, so I’ve found myself more drawn to darker colors and suiting pieces. The weather is also completely different, so I’ve had to develop some snowy-weather style — still could use some tips about that!
What movie title would best explain your life? Never Been Kissed! Ha, just kidding, It’s a Wonderful Life.
