3 indoor toys to help burn your kids’ energy
By Aimee Heckel
It’s snowing in Atlanta. The ground is frozen in Colorado. The blizzards keep coming. And the kids are going crazy.
A little chilly air and some snowball fights are healthy for any kid. But it’s not the same as summer, when kids can run circles in the grass with the wide-open sky above for hours upon hours.
Instead in the winter, that energy ricochets off your ceiling and walls.
We want to help you survive the final stretch of snow. Here are three great indoor toys to help burn off your kids’ energy:
1. Bring the monkey bars inside.
If your kids are having playground withdrawal, check out this indoor, portable, build-it-yourself gymnasium. The Toy Monster Monkey Bars Tower is made out of interlocking plastic tubes with connectors, so your kids can build their gym and then play on it, too. And when they’re done, it’s easy to tear down and store in the closet.
2. A mini trampoline for tots.
Bring this “Ladybug Jumper” with a handrail inside and let your kids bounce until they are begging you for a nap. (OK, that’ll never happen.) The handrail helps them stay on the trampoline, or get the hang of it, if they’re younger., and this toy doesn’t take up too much space. Move it outside in the summer, or tuck it in a closet; it’s only 8 1/2 inches high.

3. Get tunnel vision.
Kids love climbing through, under and on top of things. This tumble tunnel is endless fun for toddlers, and the soft interior will help pad the inevitable head bonks. Bonus: Your cats will love it, too.
