3 most romantic getaway vacations
By Aimee Markwardt
Whether you’re new lovers or lifelong companions who can finish each other’s sentences without even speaking, a romantic getaway can be a memorial and meaningful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day next month.
If you want to make it special, now is the time to book your tickets, request time off and start planning.
Here are our three favorite romantic U.S. vacations. Can’t you just hear Marvin Gaye crooning already?
1. Waikiki, Hawaii — With the dreamy beaches and late-night tiki fires, no one can deny Hawaii is a lovers’ paradise. Consider a long weekend trip at the Hawaii Prince Hotel in Waikiki, which offers a special Romance Package starting at $330 per night. The package includes a rental car, oceanfront room, chilled bottle of wine, chocolate truffles, daily breakfast and dinner for two on one night.
2. Charleston, South Carolina — For a Valentine’s Day excursion with Southern charm, head to South Carolina. Check out the Romantic Retreat package at the Elliot House Inn. Deals start at $395 for two nights, including a private carriage tour, chocolates, fruit, champagne and a $75 dinner gift certificate for 82 Queen. Relax in the beautiful courtyard, surrounded by statues and plants.
3. Palm Springs, California — The MiraMonte Resort and Spa calls itself a “destination resort,” and it’s no wonder why. The Romance in the Desert package includes gourmet food at The Grove, two 60-minute spa treatments or a couple’s massage, champagne, chocolate-covered fruit and even a rose petal bed turn-down. Rates start around $469 a night.
