5 swoon-worthy beauty trends from New York Fashion Week
By Brittany Anas
Ah, New York Fashion Week: Our fashion forecast for the future, showing us what trends we have awaiting us in the fall. Sure, the clothes won’t be available on the racks until late summer — and we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves and skip over our favorite garden party dresses or maxis. So, what’s a girl to do if fashion week has got her feeling impulsive? Why not try out some of the hair and beauty tricks we spotted on the runways to hold us over until fall fashion arrives with all of its pomp and circumstance and thick style magazines.
Here are five beauty trends that the models at New York Fashion Week were embracing — and how you can
Tory Burch perfume, $82 at Sephora. The Tory Burch fashion show spotlighted reinvented military jackets and Bohemiam-like dress prints. While those are still being stitched together for fall, check out the Tory Burch perfume, which is a floral peony and tuberose blend with citrus and grapefruit notes.
Deep side parts. We’ve seen parts straight down the middle or loose side parts. But it looks like the hair trick of fall 2014 will be a deep, crisply defined side part. To get the look, arm yourself with a good comb to create the deep part. Try prepping your hair with a Tonic Lotion from Bumble and Bumble ahead of time
Less than perfect buns. The neat and tidy sock bun has been keeping our hair in perfect order for the past couple of years. But the buns at New York Fashion Week, well, they were more relaxed and laid back. To get a more tousled bun, treat your hair first with Josie Marn’s Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist.
Re-imagined nail tips. We couldn’t stop staring at the model manicures. Creatures of Comfort pushed the limits with goldfingers — literally. A shimmery metallic polish dripped about an inch or so below the nailbed. For a look that is less “I let my pre-schooler do my nails” and more, well, polished, give the reinvented French tip look a try. The Rebecca Minkoff show nailed it (pun intended) with rich red nails accented by black tips.
Berry lips: They’re back for another fall. Bold, red lips is one of our favorite year-round beauty routines — but it always seems especially appropriate in the fall. The Yves St. Laurent “mouthwatering berry” is a berry favorite of ours.
