4 ways to make every day feel like Disney World
By Aimee Heckel
A Disney World vacation is kind of an American childhood ritual. But it can be pricey.
Really pricey.
A Disney vacation package for room, tickets and dining for seven days — not even including airfare — starts at $2,772 for a family of four. (Of course, there are ways to do it cheaper — with much planning — and you’ll want to save as much as possible on your airfare. Use these travel coupons to save everywhere you can.)
If your family can’t find an extra several thousand dollars to spend on Mickey Mouse this year, there are other ways to make your day-to-day life feel Disney-inspired.
Here are some of our favorite unique Disney-inspired products, so every day can feel like Disney World. Without the six-hour lines.
Got little ones? Start at Disney Baby.
1. An umbrella stroller with decorative “ears” on top, like this Minnie Mouse stroller, combine function and adorable. Find it at Walmart for less than $20.
2. Are you a minimalist? Or at least trying to minimize kid clutter? (It can truly take over a house.) Check out this wonderful baby gift guide for minimalists. We love the simple white onesies and old-fashioned wooden blocks and toys.
3. Tone it down. This old-school Mickey Mouse “heirloom” stuffed animal in a monochromatic color looks like it was passed down for generations, $39.95, at the Disney Store. A truly unique, simple spin on the traditionally flashy Mickey and Minnie decor. You can also find Minnie, Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh heirloom plush animals.
4. Decorate your house with Disney. This doesn’t have to mean kitschy, either. This Mickey Mouse black and white tea set would look beautiful in even Martha Stewart’s perfect house. Go subtle with a Disney hot pad or silverware set.
