5 easy ways to be healthier
Think you have to be all or nothing in regards to your health? Think again! No need for a restrictive eating program or grueling fitness intensive. There are plenty of easy ways to be healthier today. Try these five tips to jump-start your health and have you feeling fabulous in no time.
Drink enough water
We should all strive to drink no less than half of our body weight in ounces per day. If you are active or live in a dryer or hotter climate you can increase this accordingly.
Coffee doesn’t count, so go for purified water as the best source of hydration. Consider buying a Filtrete water pitcher to keep full in your fridge. Get creative with flavorings like cucumber-mint or lemon ginger (we have $10 and $15 Walmart coupons available).
Try to drink at least 10 ounces first thing in the morning and then spread your intake evenly throughout the day.
Eat your veggies
Vegetables and greens are the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle. Try to eat a veggie-packed salad or green smoothie every day. Vary your veggies so you can make sure to get a wide variety of vitamins and minerals in your diet.
Your body was meant to move, so move it. With so many of us working sedentary desk jobs, sneaking in movement is more important than ever.
Aim to get at least 30 minutes of exercise, 5 days a week. But feel free to do more! Walking, running, weight lifting, and gym classes are all great ways to get your body moving.
Don’t let stress and negative emotions take over your mood. Make sure to think positive throughout the day and know that you can handle any situation that comes your way. Find the stress management technique that works for you, be it journaling, yoga, or talking with a trusted friend.
Get enough sleep
Yes, you may be able to function on only five hours of sleep at night, but that doesn’t mean it’s good for your body. Eight hours is optimum, though seven will do. Think you don’t have enough time in your day to get 8 hours of sleep? Try turning off the TV and heading to bed an hour earlier. Sleep is more beneficial than reruns any day.
