5 top T-shirt trends and how to wear them in style for spring
There is no style that’s easier to love than a good ol’ classic T-shirt. And, as comfy as they are, tees can be right on trend, too. Here are some of our favorite T-shirts and how to wear them this season.
The T-shirt dress
Dresses don’t have to be fancy or uncomfortable, as the T-shirt dress trend proves. These tees are super long and baggy, often with asymmetrical hemlines or slits up the side to give them some movement and interest. Pair a T-shirt dress with leggings or, in the summer, with short-shorts. This gray and peach style is cool casual at it’s finest. Gap heathered jersey T-shirt dress, $39.95, gap.com
Mixed patterns and fabrics
Although a nicely fitting plain white cotton tee will never go out of style, try something bold, like mixing patterns (think florals with stripes) or fabrics (mesh with cotton). This three-quarter-length-sleeved tee has both mixed patterns and mixed fabrics (nylon-rayon). Wear it with light-colored skinny jeans and tall sandal-ettos. Shoulder cutouts and off-the-shoulder
A little peep of shoulder skin is flirty, while still totally modest. You’ll see some unique cutouts on tees this season, particularly on the shoulders. This Sol Angeles Cold Shoulder slub tee, $68, anthropologie.com, comes in a simple black, which dresses up this knit cotton, scoop-neck style. Wear this with shorts, jeans, a skirt–it’s infinitely versatile, and can even be dressed up with the right accessories and pants. But for a unique back cutout, check out this (sexy!) tee. Oversized. Period.
Ditch your tight, form-fitting tees this year. Oversized is in–and pretty much all you’ll see at trend-setter urbanoutfitters.com. A no-fail, no-fuss summer of 2015 outfit: an oversized plain-colored T-shirt with denim shorts and a simple necklace. This style has a cute hood, too. Floral accents–for men
Flower prints aren’t just for women. Urbanoutfitters.com has been championing the trend of floral accents on men’s tees for a while now, and it’s still on the hot list this spring. Try a small accent pocket, if you’re unsure, or pick a simple, two-toned color scheme, like this blue-and-white floral accented style. From a distance, those white roses almost look like skulls. Oh, and for men, extra-long length and rounded hems are everything. BDG floral colorblock T-shirt, $24, urbanoutfitters.com
