6 last-minute Mother’s Day gifts for less than $50
The macaroni necklaces and finger-painted cards may have melted mom’s heart back in the day. But now that you’re old enough to cut the crust off your own sandwiches, impress your mother dearest with your gift-giving genius and find a present that she’ll love. (P.S., we’re guessing she’s still got room on the fridge to display a handmade card).
Scouting out a perfect Mother’s Day gift doesn’t have to break the bank. Here are six gifts that are all less than $50 and will make Mom smile come May 10.
Plant a seed
Sure, you could send Mom a bouquet of flowers. But it’d be much more special to help plant her a garden she can enjoy year-round. The Hudson Valley Seed Library is a small seed company that sells heirloom and open-pollinated garden seeds. Each year the brand commissions artists to create original illustrations for their seed packets. These pretty floral designs were created y Philadelphia-based artist Kendra Dandy. You’ll get a mix of lemon queen sunflower seeds, French marigold mix and zinnia mix. Each packet includes 100 seeds. Flower Seed Variety, $18, anthropologie.com
Behind the mask
Mom taught you beauty is only skin deep, yes? She’ll love this collection of four fruit-infused masks. (That’s a whole lotta’ spa days!) The kit includes cooling and refreshing watermelon, instant skin-brightening grapefruit, lifting and firming cranberry and moisturizing nectarine. Pretty darn close to the recommended five servings of fruits, plus, she can mix and match or apply each mask on its own. Korres Beauty Shots Ultimate Mask Collection, $36, sephora.com
With all your heart
She’ll totally heart this trio of nesting bowls. Artist Jennifer Darner Wolfe creates pottery by hand in a private studio, so it’s fair to say they’re made with love. These bowls are all hand-thrown in the the studio on the edge of Wisconsin’s Horicon marsh, so no two will ever be exactly the same. We can picture these on display in the kitchen or used as cute bowls to catch jewelry on a night stand. JD Wolfe heart bowls, $36, jcrew.com
