6 summer skin care tips
With the summer sunshine comes more sunshine. Spending extra time outside can be really rough on your skin, if you’re not careful.
Here are some ways to keep your skin cared for and safe this summer.
1. Apply sunscreen throughout the day:
Put facial sunscreen on before your makeup, look for makeup with built-in sunscreen and apply it again 20 minutes before you go outside. Reapply every few hours or after your sweat a lot or go swimming. Look for sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection.
Our favorite facial sunscreen: Bobbi Brown Protective Face Base SPF 50, $37.80 (plus Cash Back), Nordstrom.com
Drink plenty of water, especially when you’re in the sun. Water affects your skin more than you realized.
Water bottles we love: Poga BPA-free water bottle, $9.53 (plus Cash Back), Walmart.com
3. Don’t forget your lips:
Protect your lips with SPF chapstick. It’s easy to forget, but your lips can be sunburned as well.
Chapstick we love: Ulta Lip Balm SPF 30, $2.99 (plus Cash Back), Ulta.com
4. And don’t forget your feet, hands and neck:
Sandals and strappy shirts leave more skin exposed. Apply SPF 30 (or more) sunscreen to your whole body, but don’t forget the smaller parts, like feet and ears.
Sunscreen we love: Suncare Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion, $9.99 (plus Cash Back), Ulta.com
5. Wear a sunhat and sunglasses for extra protection:
With so many cute styles out there, use the sunshine as an excuse to doll up. We love the BP Come Sail Away floppy straw hat at Nordstrom. Pair it with a jumpsuit or flowy dress and large black shades for the perfect summer chic look.
Our favorite summer hat: BP Come Sail Away floppy straw hat, $26 (plus Cash Back), Nordstrom.com
6. Fake bake:
If you long for that summer glow, choose a self-tanning cream instead and you’ll be less tempted to spend extended periods of time in the sun.
Sunless tanner we love: Tarte Brazilliance Sunless Tanner, $39 (plus Cash Back), Sephora.com
