3 accessories to pack for your spring break getaway
Spring break is not just for college students. In fact, the majority of travelers–64 percent–intentionally choose a location for their spring vacation that is not popular among students, according to Orbitz.com.
The travel site recently released its list of the most popular spring break destinations for 2015. Topping the list: warm-weather locations, such as Las Vegas, Orlando, Cancun and Miami Beach. Headed to one of the top 10 destinations? Here are some packing tips to help you along your way:
Las Vegas
With the exquisite pools and warm weather, you’ll be tempted to flip-flop around town, but don’t do it! Make sure you pack comfortable shoes. A few treks up and down the infamous Vegas Strip and your little piggies will be crying. Instead, pack a pair of sexy and comfy shoes. Rather than cheap flip-flops, these Italian-made Prada fringe suede sandals at Neiman Marcus are built with the highest quality. A bit out of your price range? Did you know nordstrom.com sorts shoes online by “comfort?” Select the category and pick your own personal style. Oh, and if you weren’t aware, Birkenstock sandals are back. Forfeit the between-toe chafing and enjoy the new spin on these retro summer shoes known for their comfort. Birkenstock Arizona sandals, $89.95, nordstrom.com
Cancun
Pack a travel handbag when you visit Mexico. A closer-fitting, smaller purse will help keep your belongings safe while you’re in another country, without weighing you down. Pick one that zips and snaps securely shut to help keep out sand when you inevitably end up on the beach. This bag is functional, inexpensive and comes in a variety of colors. And, for a little more fashion, this crossbody bag with multiple zippers in cobalt blue even has a separate iPad compartment. Terrace mini bag, $19.99, ebags.com
Dominican Republic
Don’t just pack one pair of sunglasses. Pack several pairs, and make them cheap. If you lose or break your sunglasses in other countries, in particular the Dominican Republic, it can be tricky to find a pair that isn’t completely overpriced. Your hotel gift shop will have a handful of options, but they will likely be out of style and marked up at least twice. Instead, pick up a few cheap pairs and be prepared. Leave your expensive sunglasses at home. Urban Outfitters aviators, $14, urbanoutfitters.com
