California dreaming: Awesome ‘souvenir’ T-shirts inspired by the coast
By Brittany Anas
Haven’t had a chance to make it out to the beaches of Los Angeles for a surf and sun vacation? Yeah, you’ll want to get on that. But for those of us who are landlocked and California dreaming, we can still rock T-shirts that remind us of Surf City USA and the Cali coast.
Souvenir-looking T-shirts are a summer fave. And, they get better with age because the more your wash them and the more worn they look, the better.
We’ve surfed the Web for some of the best California-inspired shirts that, for all we know, you bought at some cool coastal shop:
Malibu: Reminds you of Barbies, yes? A pink-striped scoopneck T-shirt with white letters that spell out Malibu across the chest is loose-fitting with roll-up cuffs. Or, go for a more classic short-sleeve terry indigo sweatshirt that would look great over a swimsuit or, in the fall, over a plaid button-up. (Gap)
Los Angeles: For $25, you can look like an adventurous, style-savvy, globe-trotting traveler. A simple gray T-shirt uses a heart design to circle a list of vacation destinations from London to Paris to New York City to L.A. Pair it with a black blazer and some jeans for an instantly chic outfit. (American Eagle).
A beach pier: Hollister is a so-Cal-inspired store for “dudes and Bettys.” We love this graphic navy T-shirt with a pink ice cream cone that looks like it was plucked from a tourist shop near the Santa Monica pier. (Hollister).
Manhattan Beach: A watercolor V-neck T-shirt adorned with a sparkly palm tree takes our imagination away to Manhattan Beach. Or is it more Laguna? Either way, it’s just $8 and we are ready to sport it with a pair of denim shorts and some sunnies. (Aeropostale).
