How to spend less and live more with the Budget Blonde
We came across Cat’s Budget Blond blog and totally fell in love. Her obsession for being thrifty and her love for spending less and living more are now ours as well. Our favorite tip: write down every purchase you make in order to stay accountable for what you are buying. Check out how cool Cat is…
Where I’m based: Grenada, West Indies. It’s a little tiny Caribbean island, and it’s beautiful!
How long I’ve been blogging: Three years
Blog basics: BudgetBlonde.com is all about “spending less and living more.” I talk about minimalism, traveling, budgeting and living in a foreign country.
My guilty pleasure: I love a nice glass of wine, especially when it’s paired with a good book!
Last thing I bought: The last thing I bought just for me was a new bathing suit. I can’t wait to get it. It’s bright yellow with polka dots.
Hardest lesson I have learned: Financially speaking, that would have to be not to take out too many student loans. Today, I’m paying back a significant amount of student loans, and while I know a large part went to fund my education, I also spent a lot of it on things I shouldn’t have.
Best advice for spending less and living more: Tell yourself “no” often. You don’t need to purchase every single item you want. Allow yourself to save up for something special and enjoy the anticipation of buying it someday. Or, even better, just remind yourself you don’t need it after all.
Most fun I ever had: Moving to Grenada. It was also the scariest thing my husband and I have ever done because we had no idea what to expect. Since we’ve been here, we’ve dived in crystal blue water, seen 400-pound sea turtles lay their eggs, slid down waterfalls and basically had the time of our lives.
My hopes and dreams: I would love to build a home someday with my husband, have a few kids, travel the world and continue to grow my blog and freelance writing career. A white picket fence would be nice, too!
