Cherished Handmade Treasures: A craft blog full of DIYs and family recipes
Sandy Marcus Elliott is the woman behind Cherished Handmade Treasures, a blog filled with free craft projects, favorite family recipes and a whole lot of inspiration. After visiting her treasure trove of Pinboard, we are in awe of just about every one of her six-thousand pins. Meet Sandy …
Where I’m based: Utah
How long I’ve been blogging: Three years
Blog basics: Cherished Handmade Treasures is a craft blog with a smattering of other interests; DIY home projects, family recipes, a giveaway or two, we have even included Fido with some gourmet dog treats. I guess you could say it’s like Martha Stewart meets Pinterest with a splash of Cupcake Wars on the side.
Where do you get your inspiration for all the cherished handmade treasures you make? I draw inspiration from everyday items. My poor husband doesn’t even want me to leave the house, because I usually come back with a new project for “us” to do.
What’s your favorite cuisine? Mexican food and cupcakes. If you ask me, cupcakes should have their own spot on the food pyramid.
What’s the most interesting craft you’ve done with an obscure material? I have made a few projects from strange items, a snowman from a salt shaker, a goodie jar from a terra cotta pot, but I think maybe the most obscure would be the pumpkins we made from the dryer hose.
Is there one go-to meal that your family always requests? Cinnamon pull-a-parts. It’s a Christmas morning tradition and any other time they can get me to make them.
What did you do before Pinterest? Blog stalked.
Sweet or savory? Definitely savory, my husband is the sweet one.
