But First, Coffee blogger dishes on travel, beauty products and cocktails
Kallie from But First, Coffee is a lover of beauty products, traveling, mixing drinks and of course, coffee. After reading her blog, we are happy to report she knows her stuff. From adventures in wonderful France, to what beauty products to use and homemade cocktail concoctions, she’s got it going on. Meet Kallie …
Where I’m based: Connecticut
How long I’ve been blogging: I’m new at this! While I’ve been reading blogs for over four years, I just published my first post back in May and can’t believe how quickly my blog has grown!
Blog/business basics: My blog is really a “life” blog because I blog about all aspects of my life. Being a New Englander, photography lover and wanderluster, means I post a lot of photos from my adventures local and faraway. I’m also a huge beauty nut that brings a lot of product reviews and makeup tutorials to my blog. I love a good homemade cocktail so I share my most recent and favorite concoctions with my readers. I also do a post every Sunday called “Sunday Inspiration” where I touch on all sorts of different aspects of life, I love being able to connect with my readers and fellow bloggers this way! So, in a nutshell, my blog is mostly about life — beauty, travels, good food, good drinks and good times.
What do you enjoy most about blogging? I love that it’s a creative outlet for myself. And I love that it gives me a place to connect and share with other people that share some of my same likes and passions.
Other blogs I love: I read so many wonderful blogs it is hard to narrow it down! One of the first blogs I ever started reading was Rosie over at The Londoner, she is probably one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers. For fashion blogs, I adore Christina at Oh so Glam and Cailtin at A Little Dash of Darling. And I adore Andrea at RosyChicc as a beauty blogger. There are too many amazing bloggers out there to name!
Guilty pleasure: Sweets, I have a terrible sweet tooth. I’d also say sloth, as in one of the seven deadly sins, not the mammal. Sometimes I just like to spend the day in my sweats watching bad TV, catching up on my favorite blogs and drinking too much coffee.
Last thing I bought: Nail polish remover — exciting, huh?
What is the best drink you’ve ever mixed up? My favorite drink changes with the season, you’d have to check out my blog to know what my favorite homemade cocktail of the moment is! If I had to choose one I’d say my homemade cucumber infused vodka, shaken with lime juice and muddled mint served on the rocks with seltzer. Delicious!
What is your most memorable travel excursion? I honestly love any kind of travel, even if it’s somewhere only 45-minutes away. And, I’m lucky enough to have traveled to a lot of amazing places.
But, I guess my most memorable travel moment would be in 2009 when my boyfriend’s parents took us to the Caribbean. They are big snorkelers and his father wanted to take me snorkeling for the first time. We were in St. Thomas on this little beach and there was an island a little ways off that they said would have the best fish. I was super excited but when I got out into the water and started swimming I kind of freaked out. I guess the reality of having to swim all that way and not having any place of safe refuge all flooded in at once.
Well, Michael’s father was so patient and held my hand the whole swim out to the island. And when we got out there is was one of the coolest experiences ever. All the fish and ocean life right there at our finger tips! Totally worth the minor freak-out. And I learned a good lesson — that it’s usually worth it to push through when something seems scary, it will probably be worth it in the end!
What beauty product can you not live without? This is a new product in my life but I’m going to say Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. It is a miracle spray and can make you feel like a million bucks without a stitch of makeup on! And, if not the elixir, then I’d say Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer.
Do you take cream or sugar? Why ruin the great taste of coffee with that silly stuff? I prefer my coffee black — au naturel.
