Coffee mugs and travel tumblers that will perk up your morning
Coffee doesn’t ask questions. Coffee understands.
Coffee tricks us into thinking we’re in a good mood for about 27 minutes.
A yawn is a silent scream for coffee.
No other beverage is glorious enough to have its own long stock of quotes, memes and e-cards. Well, wine comes in a close second. But there’s something about chilly winter weather that makes a steaming cup of Joe all the more inviting.
And just like there are endless proclamations of the coffee gospel in meme form, there also are plenty of different ways to transport the caffeine into your mouth. Here are some of our favorite cute coffee mugs and travel tumblers that will perk up your morning this winter—and also make great last-minute stocking stuffers.
Go fun and unusual
Differently shaped coffee mugs put a new twist on a standard mug. This mug, $12.99, is shaped like a prescription bottle. The Pendleton print on this mug from Urban Outfitters, $24, is beautiful and cozy. Or what does the fox say? “Slurp, guzzle, ahh.” This adorable fox crafty coffee mug, $19.99, at Modcloth is a work of art, even empty. Sure, the design is a little odd; you hold on to the fox’s head, not tail, to drink. But it’s still funky enough to catch our eye.
Make a personalized Sharpie mug
Craftaholics Anonymous offers a great tutorial on how to make Sharpie mugs. But beware: Sharpie mugs are easy to mess up. Blogger One Savvy Mom offers another idea, using The Write Dudes’ Infinity permanent markers, $10.05 at Walmart, and a longer baking time instead. Whatever strategy you use, make your mug express your personality—even if it’s a little blasphemous, like this naughty Pinterest idea.

Take it to go
If there’s something we always need, it’s a new travel tumbler. Where do the lids go? Are they hiding somewhere with the runaway socks? You can’t go cheap on a coffee tumbler, or you’ll end up with a drizzle of coffee slobber on your tie and a lukewarm beverage. Starbucks is known for its excellent travel mugs—and festive packaging and designs that make perfect holiday gifts. Or go retro-adorable with this old school-looking thermos from Modcloth that made us chuckle out loud.
