College student blogs palindromes and life as a student
Hannah Thiesfeldt is studying to become a Speech Language Therapist and running her blog, Words as Palindromes. Like any college kid she loves Target, she’s a Grey’s Anatomy fanatic and is a coffee-loving traveler. Her blog is full of life as a college student and reading it makes us dream about the days of old. Meet Hannah …
Where I’m based: Right now I am home in Wisconsin, but once school starts up in August I will be back in Mankato, Minn.
How long I’ve been blogging: Technically since April 2012, before I went and studied abroad for the summer in Ecuador, but it wasn’t until this past summer that I have started to post more and promote my blog, Words as Palindromes.
Blog/business basics: Words as Palindromes is a conglomeration of many things, daily occurrences that happen in my life as a college student, fun, fashion, a few recipes and DIY projects. Basically it is everything and anything that happens in my life that I think people would think of as interesting.
Other blogs I love: There are so many, but some of my absolute favorite are The Daybook, Living in Yellow, La vie Petite, One of Five and Jane Caroline.
Guilty pleasure: White chocolate, late night Taco Bell, slippers, a blanket, a chick flick on a cold winter night, watching the High School Musical movies with my sisters, eye shadow — seriously, I’m in love with it — and Pinterest.
Last thing I bought: A pair of classy velvet high heel Mary Janes with a flower attached on the side. I am literally in love and cannot wait to wear them for weddings this winter!
Fav stores: Target, Maurices, and Francesca’s. I also love looking at little boutiques on the internet and dreaming of all the clothes I wish I could afford!
How’s college? As dorky as it sounds, I love college and I love going to school, it keeps me busy and I love to learn. One of my favorite things is getting to live in an apartment with all my best friends and being only a short walk away from others, it makes for so many memories. I love being involved in campus as well. I am in charge of our campus coffee shop and President of the student activity committee. The schoolwork within my Speech-Language Pathology major, is very difficult, I spend quite a bit of time making note cards and in the library, but I know that it will all be worth it in the end once graduation and grad school acceptance (hopefully!) comes around.
Where’s the most exotic place you’ve traveled? When I was in Ecuador, I spent a week in the Amazon Rainforest. I had a love/hate relationship with it. Some days we wouldn’t have electricity or water, so we would resort to showering in the pouring rain in our swimming suits. But seeing all the Rainforest wildlife (monkeys, toucans, etc.) walking right past you, tubing down the Amazon River, ziplining over the river and living the rough life, made it all worth it.
There was another time I was in Costa Rica and being the redhead I was, I put on SPF70 four times, but it did nothing. I came home with sun poisoning — that wasn’t fun, but the memories I made were worth it all.
What’s your favorite Grey’s Anatomy episode? Oh my goodness there are so many! But my top favorite are definitely, the episode where Izzie and Alex get married, when Derek and Meredith successfully finished the clinical trial, Derek proposed to Meredith and it sounds so weird, but the episode where Denny died, the shooter in the hospital episode, and the ferry accident. I guess it really is many of the season finales.
If you could plan a date with Ryan Gosling what would you two do? It would depend on when it was (which season). But if it was in the summer, we would go to the beach — then he wouldn’t have to wear his shirt — and take a walk on the boardwalk with margaritas in hand. Or, if it was in the fall (my favorite time of year), we would wear charming fall clothing and walk through Central Park and get to know New York. If some jumping in leaf piles or throwing me in the ocean occurred, I wouldn’t mind!
