Lullaby Lubbock bloggers are all about parties, crafting, baking and DIY
When we found Lullaby Lubbock, a lifestyle blog run by best friends Kristen and Allison, we knew we had uncovered a gem. These creative moms know how to throw a one-of-a-kind party (like the 35 and Thrifty bash, where guests had to come dressed in thrift store finds complete with DIY details, all the while creating unforgettable memories. They love their kids, admit to shoving clothes under the bed and have some really cool tattoos. Kristen, tell us more …
Where we’re based: We are two moms based out of small town Texas.
How long we’ve been blogging: We have been blogging for about four years now (what?!) and it has just flown by.
Blog basics: We started the blog when we both lived in Lubbock while our husbands were in medical school and we had babies about the same age. We wanted to document living in the same town (since we knew it wouldn’t be for very long) and everything our kids did. Just like all other moms, we were enamored with every little new thing they did and wanted a picture, video and song to go with it. We started sharing a few DIYs that we tried from other blogs and parties we were having (and it) pretty quickly turned into blogging. We definitely believe in celebrating all the time and we were excited to have a place to document that. So, now we have moved to separate cities and, although we live a few hours away, we stay close, get together often and still document our everyday lives, DIYs and our latest party/holiday.
Other blogs we love: We love so many other blogs. I mean, it’s amazing how many inspiring women (and men) there are out there. We love You Are My Fave and all of her unique ideas, Oh Happy Day is just a genius, Cup of Jo for lifestyle advice, Beautiful Mess has amazing DIY’s, our friend Life Thru a Linds for her gorgeous pics of her kids, parties and ideas, Handmade Charlotte, Rockstar Diaries is always a fave, Kendi Everyday for style tips… The list could go on and on!
Guilty pleasure: Probably late night snacking and finishing an entire bags of jalapeno chips or entire bags of chewy candy.
Last thing I bought: The last thing I bought was a shirt to copy one Allison had that she had bought last year. Hers was fantastic and I don’t know why I didn’t get it last year, but luckily I found a cheaper, not the same, but still cute copy.
What are your favorite places to shop? We love Target, Old Navy, Gap, Madewell, Anthropologie (if we have a gift card!).
Where do you come up with all of your party ideas? Allison is one of the most creative and talented people I have ever known. The ideas she comes up with and the amazing ability she has to execute her ideas just inspires everyone she meets. She is truly so talented and I am so thankful that I have her to bounce ideas off of. Once we have the basic idea, we Google everything we can find that could go with our theme and copy and DIY. That way we can to make the party better. We love Oriental Trading Company, too — they have everything you could think of and it’s all so cheap.
What’s your favorite thing about crafting? I think the process of creating something unique and with your hands is something that can not be replaced by anything else. Creating and crafting is definitely one of our very favorite things and we hope we can instill how fulfilling it can be to our kids.
What is your must–do DIY project you just can’t wait to start? We kind of always have something up our sleeve that we wish we had more hours in the day to complete.
How do you balance blogging, mommying, baking, park time and life in general? We definitely do not balance things all that well. Our houses get super messy, we forget about emails for days, we eat sandwiches for meal after meal and showering is last on our priority list. I will say that most times our kids come first and we know that this time goes fast and we only have a small amount of time that they are home with us. We try to do things with them first and foremost and then kind of pick up the rest of the stuff as it comes.
What’s your favorite musical? That is so hard! Newsies? Hairspray? Sound of Music? Too many to choose just one!
How many clothes do you really have shoved under your bed? Way too many to count.
