Dakota Johnson latest celeb child to rise to stardom
By ShopAtHome.com
It’s no secret that famous actors sometimes come from famous parents. Martin Sheen is dad to Charlie and Emilio Estevez. Kirk Douglas calls Michael Douglas son. Without Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, there would be no Jamie Lee Curtis. Eddie Fisher plus Debbie Reynolds equals Carrie Fisher. Kate Hudsons’s mom? Goldie Hawn. Angelina Jolie’s dad? Jon Voight. We could go on and on.
But the celebrity spawn making headlines now is Dakota Johnson, 23, daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, and granddaughter of Tippi Hedren, recently cast to portray Anastasia Steele in the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey.
This got Celebrity Baby Scoop wondering if stars want their kids to become famous, too.
Model-turned-actress Andie MacDowell, a mom of three, tells the website her 27-year-old son, Justin, is studying to be a teacher, but her 24-year-old daughter, Rainey, is an actress and her 18-year-old daughter, Sarah Margaret, is a model.
“I let her move to New York City alone aged 16, because I knew it was right for her,” MacDowell tells Celebrity Baby Scoop of her youngest. “She’s just a really good kid. I think it’s partly the discipline from dancing and partly her personality, but I’ve never had to tell her to do her homework and never had to worry about her getting in trouble.”
Full House‘s Candace Cameron Bure, another mom of three, tells the website her kids are showing interest in both acting and hockey (dad Valeri Bure is a star on the ice).
“Our kids are making that choice for themselves, and it seems they are following in both our footsteps,” she tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “My daughter wants to act, and we’re allowing her to audition. My son Lev wants to be a tennis player, and Maks wants to be a hockey player. They’re all pretty determined and focused to pursue those goals.”
Will Smith’s kids seem intent on stardom, as well.
Jaden, 15, and Willow, 12, have both appeared in movies with their famous dad.
So what does Will think of his kids entering the family business?
“Jaden is [like] Johnny Depp. He just wants to do good work . . . He loves acting, he just wants to make good movies,” Smith tells the website, adding, jokingly, “and Willow is Paris Hilton. Willow wants to be on TV.”
Just one of the three daughters of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore — Rumer, 25 — has meanwhile, has chosen acting as a career.
“Rumer’s not only got the [acting] bug, Rumer’s successful — and she’s got a great head on her shoulders,” Willis tells the website. “[She] wasn’t raised in Los Angeles, so she knows the difference between the illusion of Hollywood and what real life is.”
