A Little Dash of Darling is a must-read fashion blog
Caitlin Lindquist is the creator of the gorgeous fashion blog, A Little Dash of Darling. Not only is Caitlin a style mogul, she just finished law school. Each day her posts inspire her thousands of followers, and we are proud to say that we are one of them. Meet Caitlin …
Where I’m based: My husband Ben and I currently reside in sunny San Diego, Calif. But we actually have a pretty big announcement — our address will soon be changing to the very hot Scottsdale, Ariz. We are thrilled for the move and this next adventure in our lives. So Arizonians, be on the lookout for us and be sure to send over any recommendations you have for us to eat, shop and house-hunt!
How long I’ve been blogging: I started A Little Dash of Darling in late October of last year, but I didn’t begin publishing consistently until this past January. It has been such a whirlwind these past few months, but I have truly enjoyed every step of the way — honing in on my creative side and just having fun with it.
Blog/business basics: A Little Dash of Darling chronicles my daily fashion adventures and weekly current wish-lists in my “darling desires” series, but I also enjoy posting my beauty must-haves, fitness routines and health favorites (such as an at-home 3-day detox cleanse recipe) and my soon-to-be travel explorations.
What do you enjoy most about blogging? I love exploring and playing with what I am most passionate about — fashion. Ever since I was a little girl I have had a major interest in fashion, but I just never knew what I wanted to do with it or how to go about incorporating it into my life. Blogging allows me to bring out that passion on a daily basis in a unique and interesting way. And really, I just have fun with it.
Other blogs I love: Oh my gosh there are so many great blogs and talented people out there. I would have to say some of my favorite blogs include The Blonde Salad, Peace Love Shea, Sincerely Jules, Song of Style, Tuula, Viva Luxury and Wendy’s Lookbook. I like each for different reasons. Some are purely inspirational, like pages out of a magazine that I currently can’t afford, while others feature everyday affordable wear that I love seeing their take on. But, I also love discovering new blogs and new talent, which is why I enjoy getting to know a few once in a while in my “trend report” series.
Guilty pleasure: Staying in my pajamas as long as possible on weekends and enjoying my favorite fro-yo once in a while (OK, it might be more like every other day or so).
Last thing I bought: I recently just splurged on an incredible pair of Tibi pre-Fall booties that I can’t wait to break out! I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of black boots and these are definitely it for me.
Fav stores to shop: Online, I love browsing Shopbop, Asos, Net-a-Porter and The Outnet for their incredible selections and sales. In-store, I love playing with trends in Zara, getting my preppy fix in J.Crew and buying up staples at Nordstrom.
What is your best advice for those days when you can’t find anything to wear in your own closet? Isn’t that the worst when you have a closet full of nothing to wear? My husband always thinks I am crazy on these days. When I am really struggling, I usually grab an easy dress and go from there. If a dress isn’t appropriate, I always go for a favorite outfit I’ve worn recently as a back-up. Or, if I have the time, I might visit my favorite blogs for inspiration.
You’ve lived several places in your life so far, have you been influenced by the places you’ve been? Most definitely. I think my style has been influenced by not only my mood but also my surroundings. Each place I have lived has a different “feel” to it. Park City, Utah is very outdoorsy and athletic which has definitely influenced my sporty side, while Scottsdale, Ariz. (where I attended college) brought out my girly side and love of pink. Boston has a very preppy east-coast vibe, while San Diego, Calif. has a laid back beach vibe. I love all of these cities for different reasons and each has definitely left a lasting impression on me, stylistically and personally.
Do you have a “lawyer” side to your closet? What does that look like? I have a lot of classic pencil skirts and button-downs, but I try not to always go for just the simple black and white. I like to buy pieces that, although professional, I know I can mix up and wear every day.
What trend will you NOT be trying this summer? Every once in a while I get the itch to change my hair up, and I am loving the cute mid-length hair trend right now — a la Julianne Hough. And although it’s been ridiculously hot and every so often my long hair gets sweaty and tangled at the beach, I don’t think I have the heart to let it go just yet.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to chat with you and thank you for taking the time to read. I hope you enjoy and follow along and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support as I go through this online journey.
