The best kept secret location for destination weddings
By Aimee Heckel
Summer is around the next corner — which means wedding season is, too.
Twenty percent of all weddings were destination weddings in 2009, according to a study by TheKnot.Com and WeddingChannel.com.
Nearly half of the destination weddings in America take place in warm climates: Florida, Nevada and California.
Internationally, the hottest destination wedding locations are the Caribbean, Mexico/Baja, Hawaii (ahem, which isn’t technically international, but that’s how the survey classified it), Europe and Central/South America.
Want something different?
HotelClub says the best kept secret for a destination wedding is planning your vows on Orpheus Island, a private, intimate and luxurious pocket in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia — and we agree.
The Orpheus Island Resort is immaculate and isolated (you have to take a helicopter ride to get there), with only space for 28 guests. Exchange rings on a remote beach, with the magical Coral Sea on the background. Celebrate without the crowds and tourists, on your own rare, private island. Your all-inclusive stay includes gourmet food, drinks, activities and use of all kinds of fun water equipment, boats and more.
As a boutique island getaway, the staff is trained to give the few guests full attention and tend to their every need.
Even though it’s intimate, you won’t lack anything you would want on a luxurious vacation. Indulge in the full-service spa, outdoor poolside bar and coffee shop. If you’re traveling with kids, this resort even offers babysitting.
Book your stay at the Orpheus Island Resort through Hotels.com and save big. At about $800 a night, Hotels.com guarantees the best rates.
