Next week is St. Patrick’s Day, and if you’re looking for a way to add some green to your outfit that day to avoid getting pinched, this DIY is the perfect solution! Or perhaps you simply enjoy getting into the spirit of this holiday and are looking for a festive and creative accessory. These felt shamrocks from HGTV are easy to assemble and can be added onto a hair piece, headband, brooch, or any way you decide!
craft felt in assorted shades of green
hot glue gun
large safety pin
hair clip or headband
Cut felt into 1-inch strips. (For a large shamrock, make the strip 1.5 inches wide.) Then, cut the strip into four equal pieces.
Cut an “m”-shaped notch into each felt piece, about halfway up. Repeat for remaining felt pieces, using first piece as a template.
Put two stiches into each petal, stringing them all onto embroidery thread. Pull thread tight, cinching the petals together.
Tie in a knot and trim excess thread. Then open the petals and pull them into a shamrock shape.
Using hot glue, affix shamrock to hair clip, safety pin or ribbon.
