Best electronics for the entire family
With the wealth of electronics on the market today, it can be difficult to decide what you really must have and which things you’re better off passing up. As you consider the many choices, you might worry that some electronics will lead to more solitary entertainment and less family interaction. You don’t have to let that happen! Here are three of the best electronics for family fun and interaction.
Tablet or eReader
Tablets and eReaders keep getting better when it comes to family-friendly apps. There is literally something for everyone, from games for people of all ages (including the tiniest tykes) to electronic books, calendars, and more. Coloring and drawing applications can keep the creative-minded engaged, and movies and music keep the kids company on long car trips. When you pull up for a rest stop or finally get to grandma’s? Go ahead and check your email or see what’s happening on Facebook. The only problem may be getting your turn.
If the thought of buying a gaming system calls to mind images of your family members planted on the couch just packing on the pounds, think again. Today’s gaming systems allow for plenty of active play (and gasp!) exercise, right in your living room. The kids (and your spouse) won’t even think of it as physical activity. Gaming systems like the Wii offer game choices to suit almost anyone and the chance to play as a family, getting in some bonding time with little fuss and no driving.
Camcorder or Smartphone
A camcorder allows you and your family members to capture life’s best (or funniest) moments and enjoy them again and again for years to come. Today’s handheld camcorders come in many different sizes, with many of them small enough for carrying in your pocket. Don’t want to buy a camcorder? A smartphone that produces high-quality video will do just as well. And as a bonus, smartphones not only allow you to call and text each other but also make it easy to play games, listen to music, watch videos, and access email no matter where your family’s travels take you.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to wield the camera all the time. It can be much more fun to get all of your family members in on creating videos from different perspectives. Use video-editing software to perfect your movies on your computer and upload them for sharing with other loved ones.
