Fall 2013’s hottest colors: Bold fuchsias, subdued greens and more
By Brittany Anas
Bold pops of fuchsia, blues and a dramatic red will be showing up on women’s clothes, according to a color forecast. Pantone — the leading authority of color — keeps a pulse on fashion week to make predictions about what colors are hot each season. While the color institute is ahead of the curve (they’re already calling the spring colors), let’s check in to see what colors are trending this fall — and that we can shop now.
“Just as the leaves change in autumn, the consumer will enjoy the ability to change their ‘look’ and try a new approach to their wardrobe for brisk days ahead,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
So what’s on tap for fall 2013? A palette that is versatile, Eiseman says.
Emerald — the 2013 color of the year — is still going strong bringing a luxe feel to the fall palette. Linden green has a yellowish tone and is lighter. Pantone suggests pairing both of the power greens with Mykonos Blue — which is bold — for an updated fall look.
Other colors trending this fall: “Vivacious,” a deep fuchsia; “Samba,” a spirited red; “Koi, a decorative orange that shimmers; “Turbulence,” a dark gray; and “Carafe”, a rich brown.
