Fashion blitz: Gameday looks for the 2014 football season
Picture it: You get caught on the Jumbotron rooting for your team. Are you (a) chomping down on a hot dog in a mustard-stained jersey or are you (b) looking like the stylish fan that you are, wearing a team shirt that’s not only lucky, but also flattering (while chomping down on a hot dog)? We’re rooting for the latter!
The same retailers that carry the latest fall fashion trends have curated collections of gameday gear that will make you, well, stand-out in the stands.
Here’s a round-up of a few of our fave fan shops and what they have to offer:
- “Junk Food” fan gear at Nordstrom has a soft, worn-in feel with a vintage vibe. Large, mixed fonts on men’s T-shirts play across T-shirts almost as if they are matching your enthusiasm and shouting and rooting for the home team, too. Special props to the “Touchdown collection” that embraces fan culture — i.e. Go Pats! T-shirt for the New England fans; Raider Nation shirt for Raiders fans and Mile High Football tees for the Broncos fans.
- Two-toned New Era hats at Macy’s are basic, but not boring. The two-tone gray design with your team’s logo embroidered elevates the typical baseball cap. Take a peek here and choose your team. New season, new hat, right?
- A comfy team V-neck team tee from Old Navy paired with a loose-knit cardigan is a winning, gameday combo that’s sporty and comfy. For a casual game day look on crisp fall afternoons layer the tees with an open-front cocoon cardigan or a lengthy boyfriend cardigan (which has a collegiate look to it).
- JC Penney’s “fanatics” shop makes it super-easy to shop for team gear and garb as you can search by leagues, teams and products. Sure, they’ve got T-shirts, hoodies, beanies and jackets to help you show off your team pride. But their NFL shops also have unexpected extras: We’re talking temporary nail tattoos for spirited manicure; purses; bracelet charms and even jeans with your team’s logo on the back pocket.
