Fashion ‘Scandal’! The Limited’s newest line is inspired by Olivia Pope
Not sure what to wear to work? Consider it “handled.”
Inspired by the hit TV show Scandal and its main star Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington), The Limited has launched an ah-maz-ing collection of professional clothes. And, they’re sharp. (After all, the mantra of the political drama is that those who work in Olivia Pope’s crisis management firm are “gladiators in suits.”)
The “Scandal-inspired” collection is in stores now and, trust us, some of the pieces look like they were plucked straight from the set of the ABC show. (Pssst, season premier is Sept. 25 at 9|8c on ABC).
Let us brief you on the 27-piece collection: It was designed by Washington (who has been a red carpet fave); Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo and The Limited head of design Elliot Staples. It’s polished. It’s professional. It’s confident. Washington has this to say about the collection: “Women often feel they have to choose between smart and sexy. This collection says you can be both of those things. You can be fabulous and fearless.”
(Savvy shopping tip: Review your favorite styles at The Limited for a chance to win a $250 gift card. The Limited is announcing one winner each week through Sept. 30, 2014. Find out more deets here).
Here are three pieces from the Scandal-inspired collection at The Limited that have caught our eye:
White on track
The trim fit of this blazer is oh-so Olivia. You’ll often spot her on the show wearing a well-fitted blazer in a neutral color. This fully lined jacket pairs well with the “Livvy Slim Ankle pants” if you want a crisp, suited-up look. Double Breasted Jacket in off white
All wrapped up
We’re always impressed with Olivia Pope’s outerwear as the show takes place in Washington, D.C. — which is known to get awfully frigid in the winter. Take a tip from Pope and finish off any great outfit with a warm — but stylish — jacket. The wrap coat is made with a soft felt, comes with a self-tie belt and has a sophisticated, draped collar. Best dressed
Give your suits a break with a dress that is just as powerful. This classic sheath is made modern with a tulip hem and comes in a dusty pink or a gray. It was eyed by the editors at InStyle magazine and featured in the October 2014 issue. Tulip Skirt Sheath Dress
