Mostly Food & Crafts blog is all about family fun
Cooking and doing crafts with your kids can be a great way to spend time and bond with your little ones. Just ask Danielle Miller, of the blog, Mostly Food and Crafts, and she’ll tell you what an absolute joy these moments are with her family. She is constantly sharing these at-home adventures with her family and inspiring her readers along the way. Meet Danielle …
Where I’m based: I live in Hendersonville, Tenn. It’s about 20 minutes north of Nashville.
How long I’ve been blogging: I have been blogging for almost three years now.
Blog basics: I love finding new recipes to tweak and tryout on my family. My kids are pretty good eaters so I have a lot of fun cooking for and with them. My husband is an amazing cook so you can often find my entire family bumping into each other in the kitchen as we cook together. I also love to craft and I have a few crafts on my blog that I have done alone and with the kids.
I started Mostly Food and Crafts almost three years ago when we were in the midst of a move. My husband was working a few states away and I was home with the kids trying to sell our house. This went on for a year before my husband received a better offer back home and our family was back together again. While this was going on I needed something to take my focus off the house and the move and so, Mostly Food and Crafts was born.
Other blogs I love: Oh my there are so many! Buns in My Oven, Skinnytaste, Cookies & Cups, Infarrantly Creative, Noble Pig and Inside Brucrew Life to name a few.
What craft projects are awaiting you on your Pinterest pinboards? I have a few projects for the kids this summer that we are collecting supplies for; bleach dyed shirts and homemade moon sand. I also want to make ice cream in a bag with them.
What’s your favorite thing to cook with your kids? Sweets and snacks. I like when they help create the recipes like these Raspberry-Nutella Crescents — the filling was their idea and they have actually done three different variations of this recipe. They also helped create these Heart Tarts. For the most part if my kids find a recipe they are interested in I’ll help them make it — I love that they want to get creative in the kitchen. My 10 year old daughter has actually started her own blog, Crafty Girl + Foodie.
What is your most treasured DIY project? I guess it would be these Personalized Door Plaques that I made for my kids when they were itty-bitty. Their rooms have changed quite a bit since I made them, and I keep saying I am going to update them to match the rooms, but I can’t bring myself to change them.
Where do you get your inspiration for both your recipes and crafts? The internet; other blogs, Pinterest. Also from TV — I love watching the Chew and Food Network. I also find inspiration in magazines and just about anywhere I go. I go to a restaurant or a store and like something and I think, “Hey I can do that!”
When you aren’t cooking, crafting, and mommying what do you like to do? I like to be involved at the school, I help out in the classrooms and with events going on. I love to read. Wow this is a tough question — I’m always “Mommying.” My favorite thing to do is cuddle up on the couch with my family and watch a good movie — does that count?
