From ukulele lessons to cattle driving: Unique hotel activities
By Aimee Heckel
Stretch out on the beach in Hawaii’s powdery sand, when you stay at the Kaua’i Marriott Resort. And while you’re at it, learn to play the ukulele.
Uke lessons are one of the unique offerings at this Hawaiian Marriott hotel. The resort also can set up helicopter tours and zipline adventures.
In that, your lodging is part of your vacation adventure.
The Marriott Maui Resort and Ocean Club also offers ukulele lessons, as well as lei-making.
Here are some of our other favorite unique hotel activities around the world.
Drive cattle at the Triple Creek Ranch in Darby, Montana. Three days a week June through mid-October, guests can sign up for this popular activity (note: It’s so popular that it’s booked up to a year out, so plan ahead). Learn how to herd as many as 800 cattle on a horse.
Triple Creek is full of other unique outdoor activities. You can also sign up for dog sledding, scenic floating rafting trips and “skijoring,” where one person on skis is pulled by a horseback rider. Imagine water skiing, except on snow, and with a horse instead of a boat.
Run away and join the circus at the Club Med Yukitan in Cancun, Mexico, which offers flying trapeze school and circus activities.
Explore your own “dream island,” at the Maldive’s Conrad Hotels and Resorts. The resort will drop you on a deserted island and let you enjoy the privacy for the day. Bring a picnic basket for a romantic, one-of-a-kind lunch on the beach.
Want more excitement? The Conrad Hotels also offers submarine trips on a small, two-seater sub. Dive deep below the waves and see the coral reefs from a completely new perspective.
