3 sunscreen products your kids will want to wear
By Brittany Anas
Sure, it’s no easy task getting your kids to hop out of the pool, lake, reservoir, ocean, wave pool, (fill-in-the-blank with some kind of fun body of water) to reapply sunscreen.
But making sure the kiddo-s are lathered in sunscreen so they don’t have to be gooped in Aloe Vera later is one of those parenting musts. And, hey, if you were an ’80s baby, you probably remember just how much more fun sunscreen application was with Zinca neon sunscreen. (Anybody else paint fluorescent pink lines underneath their eyes like they were quarterback of the country club pool?)
Here are 3 products that will not just keep your kids safe from the UV rays, but will also make lathering up more fun this summer:
Sunscreen bands: New on the market this summer are sunscreen bands that will tell you when it’s nearing time to reapply. Go ahead, tell your kids it’s like a video game’s power life bar. The color-changing sunscreen bands detects the level of UVA and UVB rays based on the SPF level of the sunscreen you’re wearing. Liberally apply sunscreen on your kid, and then when you get in the sun, lather or spray the lotion on the band. Bands are pink before they are exposed to the sun and quickly turn dark purple when they sense the rays. When the bands turn light purple it’s time to reapply sunscreen. The bands come in different themes — including Marvel superhero characters.
Neutrogena Wet Skin: Gone are the days when you have to patiently sit on the pool deck waiting for your skin to absorb the sunscreen. Even when your skin is wet, this sunblock will still protect you against harmful rays — which makes it the perfect sunblock for pool days or hot, sweaty afternoons on the tennis courts. Sunbow Dora-themed sunscreen: Bring Dora the Explorer to the pool with your family. The Dora sunscreen smells like bubblegum and it comes out in foamy colors before turning clear. The sunscreen comes with fun lil’ facts, too, like this one: A Howler Monkey makes the loudest sound of any animal in the rainforest. (Get 4 percent Cash Back at Walgreens from ShopAtHome.com)
