Fur real! American Eagle launches dog line called ‘American Beagle’
By Brittany Anas
This just in from the dog whisperers: Your dog wants a new wardrobe, too. He can’t be rollin’ up to the dog park in a hot dog costume or another ugly Christmas sweater. What will his pals at doggy day care think if he’s caught in doggles? In 2014!? And while you’re at it, he wants you to know “Who let the Dog Out?” is not his party anthem.
Recognizing the lack of cool dog clothes, the designers at American Eagle have come up with a new canine collection. The name will sound familiar: American Beagle. Dare we say it’s fetch? (Find coupons and deals at American Eagle from ShopAtHome.com).
“Your dog’s style is another form of expressing your own, and we are thrilled to bring American Eagle fashionable looks to our pups with the debut of American Beagle Outfitters,” says American Eagle Outfitters Style Director Preston Konrad. “The collection promises to embody the optimistic, all-American spirit of our brand.”
Fido eat too much bacon? There are slimming doggy jeggings. (Fur real, though!) Taking your lady dog for a swim? There’s a dog-friendly bikini for that. The American Beagle collection also features a beanie that says “selfie” on it, in case, you know, you catch your dog snapping photos of himself with all of his treats and toys with the hashtag #WhatUpDawg. The line includes crop tops, beach-meets-street and other styles.
A preview of the line is online now. (Find it here). The doggy clothes will be available for purchase later this spring. You can sign up for the waitlist and receive 20 percent off American Eagle purchases, with $1 per order going to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. American Eagle is hoping to donate up to $100,000 toward the cause.
Also, once your pup is outfitted in American Beagle, share photos with the hashtag #AEOStyle. You’re dog could be featured on American Eagle’s website.
