Haven’t started your holiday shopping yet? No sweat. The deals have actually been waiting for you. That’s right: Even if you didn’t brave the masses on Black Friday (or should we just go ahead and call it Black Thursday, now?) and you let Cyber Monday slip by, you’re not too late to the savings game.
Meet Green Monday, the lesser-known shopping day when deals are still hot. It falls on Dec. 9 this year. (You can expect the deals to start as early as this weekend, though). Think of it as Cyber Monday, part II. Or the Return of Cyber Monday. Or Cyber Monday 2.0. However you want to wrap your brain around it, Green Monday is a shopping day that was first coined by eBay to describe its best sales day In December.
It falls on the second Monday in December and is typically the Monday with at least 10 days prior to Christmas. Online sales in past years have surpassed the $1.2 billion mark on Green Monday, and retailers view it as a day to buoy their holiday sales.
What’s that mean for you, the shopper? Sales. Lots of sales. And you don’t even have to go to the mall or sit down at your computer. Retailers are paying special attention to the mobile shoppers who are scouring for deals on their tablets and laptops this Green Monday.
Here are some of the stores promising to have Green Monday deals. Remember to combine the sales with Cash Back and other coupons from ShopAtHome.com.
- Walmart: The retailer will soon be announcing its Green Monday deals and they promise it will be “the perfect opportunity to save a bundle while finishing up your gift shopping for the season. And with free shipping options like HomeFree and Site to Store (or a FedEx Office), your Green Monday deals will be all the sweeter.” Combine Green Monday offers with 7 percent Cash Back from ShopAtHome.com. (Tip: Don’t forget to enter ShopAtHome.com and Walmart’s 12 Days of Pinning contest. We’re offering up to $1,600 in prizes just for pinning your favorite finds. Here’s the complete rules).
- Sears: The retailer has extended Cyber Monday deals throughout the entire week and will be doing another Green Monday push. Haven’t bought a Christmas tree, yet? You’ll find Christmas decor for up to 50 percent Cash Back, plus get 5 percent Cash Back from ShopAtHome.com.
- Target: In honor of ‘Cyber Week,’ the retailer is running some awesome online deals — including buy one, get one 50 percent off on home decor and clothing. (Save even more with 3 percent Cash Back).
