Simple and easy Halloween nail ideas: Right at your fingertips
Who needs a spooky Halloween costume when your nails can do the talking (or scaring)?
It’s that time of year for witchcraft, séances and spells, but if you’re forfeiting the masks and fanfare, and looking for something a little more subtle, try decorating your nails this Halloween.
Here are some of ShopAtHome.com’s fast, easy and enjoyable ways to transform your nails from dull to freaky.
A little sophisticated:
Halloween does not have to be garish, black or creepy. One of our favorite manicures is a cream polish base painted with delicate black spiderwebs. Hand-paint them or have them professionally done. You can learn more about how to make your own nail art in the book, “DIY Nail Art.” Essie’s color Jiggle Hi Jiggle Lo, available at Target, is a perfect cream base. If you don’t have the talent to hand-paint designs on your nails or the money (or time) to go to the spa, nail stickers are a fast, easy and awesome solution. Michaels sells pumpkin and spider web nail stickers that you can quickly press on. If you make sure your nail is clean, dry and prepped before adhesion, nail stickers can last a few days up to a week. Look for pumpkins and other Halloween nail stickers at Michaels.com. Blood on your hands:
Another Halloween nail decoration idea borrows inspiration from the dark side. Paint your nails a matte black. Then, in a twisted spin off French manicure tips, apply a thick coat of red polish to the tips. Hold your hands up and let it drip naturally until it looks like blood. Let them dry and seal with a top coat. Sally Hansen’s Big Matte Top Coat is the way to finish.
For another way to “wear blood” on your hands, paint your nails white. Dip a toothpick in red polish and stripe and splatter it across your nails. Be creative. The best part of Halloween is the huge margin for error and creative exploration. Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat, $5.99 (plus Cash Back), Ulta.com
No holiday inspires nail art like Halloween. Whether you’re going for the scarily elaborate look, or want to keep things simple, ShopAtHome.com has everything you need for a fun-filled night!
