6 beautiful holiday wreaths to spread some holiday cheer
If you’re crafty, you likely know how simple it is to purchase a metal form from a craft store and make your own wreath. Simply lop off those bottom branches of the tree that always seem to need to be trimmed, get some thin green wire and wind the branches around the form, fastening them in place. Add a few bright berries and pinecones, and you have yourself a wreath.
But we doubt it will be quite as stunning as one created by a master craftsman, and, in December, who has the time? At L.L.Bean, most of the wreaths created come from the trees that are as much a part of a particular state as the rocky seashore. We’re talking Maine, and those in the know realize there’s more than lobster and fried clams to the area.
“There’s nothing like the scent of fresh balsam to bring back holiday memories,” says L.L.Bean spokesman Eric C. Smith. “Many of our wreaths are made here in Maine of balsam, pine and cedar, and shipped for free all over the country.”
In fact, he notes, a fresh wreath makes a perfect gift.
“For many of our customers, sending fresh wreaths to friends and family is as traditional as sending Christmas cards, and a great way to share holiday cheer,” Smith says.
We perused a few places where you can find both classic and non-traditional wreaths. So whether your home is a mid-century modern marvel, or it looks like something out of a Normal Rockwell painting, there’s a wreath out there to appeal to most all tastes.
