The ‘boho chic’ trend is one that marries two of our favorite wardrobe staples: Earthy, muted and comfy pieces with saturated, colorful hues and patterns like paisley or floral. Plenty of Hollywood starlets are channeling the bohemian vibe with their wardrobes. Maybe you’ve seen renditions of ‘boho chic’ in Nicole Richie’s beaded headbands, knit beanies on the Olson twins or a floppy, fall hat and utility jacket finishing off Jessica Alba’s laid-back look.
Balance is the secret to nailing the boho-chic look: Flowy tops paired with straighter-fit denim, for example. Mixing chunky knits with softer fabrics or pairing earth-toned accessories with jewel tones — like ruby or purple.
Old Navy, where you’ll get 4 percent Cash Back, makes it particularly easy with a new ‘Boho Chic’ section that you can browse online. It’s got all of the ingredients you need to perfect a look that is laid back, yet polished — a perfect combo for fall.
- Long-sleeved graphic T-shirt, on sale for $14. With a pinch of Woodstock, this long-sleeved T-shirt is a good building block for a boho outfit. For an easy outfit, just pair with worn-in denim and pop in color — for example — with a knit pom-pom hat in the “berry deep” plum shade or or “robbie red.” (Style trick: Use your accessories to pull in a new, unexpected color).
- 3/4 sleeve Boho sleeve dress, $30. Start with this solid-colored, relaxed dress with embroidered details near the neck and on the sleeves and loosely loop a patterned scarf around your neck. We’re loving this paisley infinity scarf for $17 that mixes berry hues with neutral browns and tans. Tights and fall’s favorite ankle boots autumn-ize the look. (Tip: To make ankle boots flatter you, look for a pair that has a heel with a couple inches. If you’re short, a flat ankle boot will give the illusion that your legs are shorter than they actually are).
- Women’s rockstar cords, $35. Fall’s fave pants this year are cords — preferably in a skinny fit. Rely on the red cords to steal the attention in this outfit. Balance it out with a dark worn denim jacket, T-shirt and an ombre sweater scarf to throw in a cozy texture.
