Household uses for Coca-Cola
by Melissa Brodsky
One of your goals for the New Year is probably to live a healthier lifestyle. So, if you’ve decided to cut Coca-Cola out of your diet, it’s a great start. Problem is, you have so many cans left to tempt you. You’ve considered throwing them away but something is holding you back.
Well, good. Don’t throw those cans of Coke out. You can use them to help clean up around the house. Believe it or not, Cola is a great cleaning agent!
Here you’ve always thought cola stains. But, in fact, it is a great stain remover, particularly for grease. Pour the cola directly onto the grease stain and let it sit for about an hour. Wash garment as you normally would. Also, if you have grease stains on your driveway, pour Coca-Cola directly onto it, let it sit and wash it away with water. Good as new! Follow the same process for blood stains, as well. Did your child color on the carpet with marker? Clean the spot with Coca-Cola.
Pour a can of cola directly into the toilet, instead of using your regular toilet bowl cleaner. Let it sit in the bowl for about an hour. Scrub the bowl with your toilet brush. Stand back and marvel at the sparkling bowl. Due to the phosphoric acid found in the cola, it’s a great stain remover for any other porcelain you have like tiles and sinks. Also, soak your pots and pans in it to remove tarnish and burn stains. Add cola to your laundry to remove odor. Lastly, throw two 2-liters of Coca-Cola into your pool for clear water.
Who needs all those expensive car cleaning products when Coca-Cola can get the job done? It cleans engines, removes rust, cleans a filthy windshield and bumpers of grime. Cleans car battery terminals, too.
Flat Coca-Cola can help relieve nausea. Pour a can of cola over a jellyfish sting and the relief is almost instantaneous. Apparently, due to the caffeine in Coca-Cola, two 12 ounce cans can help prevent an asthma attack. Gargle with it and say goodbye to those pesky hiccups. Drink hot cola, despite how disgusting that sounds, to get rid of congestion.
Coca-cola is a great tenderizer for meats. It can also be used as an ingredient in marinades and barbecue sauces.
