Pizza party! What you need to host a dinner featuring everyone’s favorite food
Forget heading out in the cold for a slice or two (or three). Host your own pizza party at home, instead! Whether it’s for a birthday, the Super Bowl, a fun night in with the kids or a dinner party with friends, there’s a pizza for every occasion.
Here’s what you’ll need to host a party featuring everyone’s favorite food.
Decorate the table with special themed plates (opt for paper plates for easy clean-up, like these cute “pizza” plates, perfect for a kid party). In fact, Party Supercenter sells an entire pizza party kit for eight people for less than $10 (pictured above). It includes triangle plates, Italian flag napkins, red cups and silverware. Don’t forget a red and white checkered table cloth, a steal at $2.99 at Party City.
Lucky for you, the bushy Italian mustache is a perfect costume and party favor. Pick up ‘staches at Party City, or snag straws with mustaches on them (pictured above) at OrientalTradingCompany.com. (Or, if you’re on a budget, make your own using these printable cutouts.)
The best thing about pizza is its versatility, so set up a toppings bar where guests can decorate their own mini pie (or slice of a bigger cheese pizza). Fill bowls with veggies, different cheeses, a variety of meat, sauces, spices, garlic, peppers and a few wildcard items for fun (in Europe, it’s common to eat corn on your pizza!). Then let your curiosity and taste buds lead the way. DiGiorno even sells a Design A Pizza kit, if you want to make things super simple. Find printable coupons here.
Pizza pan—of course
A nice pizza pan can really make a difference in the final product. Our favorite is this non-stick Cuisinart style at Sears, for about $11. A quality pan like this provides even heat distribution, so your pizza cooks properly throughout. No burned edges and soggy middles.
While the pizza is cooking, organize a game. There’s even a Pizza Mania math game at Kohl’s (pictured above). Or make your own pizza party game, like Pin the Pepperoni on the Pizza. Download the game at realsimple.com or make your own.
Cute pizza serving tray
Some of our favorite pizza serving trays include this zombie skull pizza tray (pictured above) or this adorably retro pizza serving tray. These are the perfect finishing touch to your pizza party; you know, like the cherry, er, pepperoni on top. Present your meal on a pizza tray stand, for an authentic restaurant feeling, and save table space, too.
