Ink savings: 3 ways to save on printer ink
This is a guest post by Deidre from CuckooForCouponDeals.com
Printer ink can be expensive! There are several ways to save money on ink.
Get it mailed instead
If you don’t need to print, don’t do it! As far as couponing you can often ask that coupons be mailed to you. I offer a complete list of all coupons you can have mailed to your house for free! If you see a coupon you want to print, make sure you don’t already have one on hand. Sometimes I get so excited about a printable coupon that I forget it came out in a newspaper insert. I have to remind myself to check first.
Shake it!
My printer will tell me it’s time to change and ink cartridge, but I have learned to ignore it. I usually have weeks more printing I can do before it actually runs out. When it does start printing with lines and skipping then pull out the ink tank and shake it. Shake and tap it where the ink comes out. Then put it back in. This usually gives an extra 20 pages of printing!
Buying ink off-brand & through ShopAtHome:
When you do need to buy ink try an off brand. I use all off brand ink and it works exactly the same as paying the higher price of regular ink. You will see me do posts how I save 70% on my ink purchases. I do this a couple of ways. I like to order online (it’s the cheapest I’ve found.) There are companies that specialize in ink sales only and carry the compatible off brands. They make it easy because you just find your printer and they match the ink. I get the best deals on 123inkjets.com.
My next biggest tip is to use ShopAtHome. Many ink companies are on ShopAtHome.com and they offer 9 – 10% cash back on your order, so that is money you can pocket again! Why pay full price? Stores pay ShopAtHome a sales commission for you clicking their links, and Shopathome uses that commission to pay you Cash Back. EASY! No points to redeem, no rebate forms to fill out or mail in. You also earn ShopGold for each purchase. Save up your Gold Points to redeem for gift cards FREE!
Get rewards
Use store rewards. If you do not want off brand ink then use Store Rewards to buy your ink. For example, Staples offers free items in their store weekly. They pay you back by giving you Staples Rewards. This is your money that you have to spend in their store. Around Christmas, Staples gives 100% on battery purchases. Use this sale to stock up on batteries, get 100% back in Staples Rewards and use that to pick up your ink. Other office supply stores have reward programs you can use to pick up your ink.
