Janelle in Real Life blogs family-life and style
Janelle Reeves of Janelle in Real Life is a mom, wife, and recent college graduate who loves blogging about life, family and style! Her positive outlook and adorable family is something that brings us back to her blog daily. Meet Janelle …
Where I’m based: Provo, Utah
How long I’ve been blogging: I began blogging for family and friends about family updates in May 2012 but I made my blog public in June of this year.
Blog/business basics: I like to blog about my personal style and how I find affordable and modest clothing to wear. My hope is to help others who want to update their wardrobe but don’t have a huge budget to do so.
What do you enjoy most about blogging? I really love being able to meet people through my blog. It’s a great way to get to know others who have similar interests that you probably wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to meet.
Other blogs I love: There are lots — but I love The Daybook, Moiology, Along Abbey Road, Selective Potential and so many more.
Guilty pleasure: Cupcakes. There’s a cute little cupcake bakery close to my house and I’m always craving one!
Last thing I bought: I just attended a factory sale for Shabby Apple and got a $100 retro-style dress for $25!
Fav Stores: H&M, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Cotton On, Gap, Nordstrom, Target and the list goes on-and-on.
What is your favorite thing in your closet? I have this blue pleated maxi skirt that I always try to find an excuse to wear.
How do you balance blogging, studying, being a mommy, a wife and you-time? I think everyone experiences struggling with balancing time at one point or another. My son has required a lot of attention being so young, so I obviously don’t push taking care of him to the side, but as for the rest, my husband helps a lot in keeping me grounded. He knows me so well and can tell if I need a break from school for “me time” or will suggest that we get a babysitter and do a fun date.
Did your style change once you became a mom? It sure did! I found that dressing well and having fun with creating outfits helped me feel better as a mom! I became more aware of my style. And of course I had to keep in mind that what I wore would probably get spit up on, so something that can be thrown in the washer is definitely a bonus.
