Kmart announces 41 straight hours of Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping

Some families run a Turkey Trot before Thanksgiving dinner to earn an extra helping of mashed potatoes. That tradition could turn into a mad dash for Christmas deals this year.
On Monday, Kmart announced that it would open its doors at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning for holiday shoppers. But unlike last year, the company boasts that stores will be open a whopping 41 consecutive hours from Thanksgiving morning through 11 p.m. on Black Friday.
In 2012, Kmart also opened at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving, but closed at 4 p.m. The stores then opened from 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving to 3 a.m. on Black Friday before opening once more at 5 a.m.
Sears Holdings Company, the parent company for both Kmart and Sears, also announced its plan for the latter on Monday. Sears will open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and remain open until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.
Sears also will have more than 1,000 doorbuster sales available until 1 p.m. on Nov. 29.
In addition to extended shopping hours at its brick and mortar locations, the company’s “Shop Your Way” program offers perks for shopping online at Sears.com or Kmart.com. That includes the ability for friends and family to pick up their gifts for free at any physical store location should you not be seeing your loved ones in person this holiday season.
“Sears and Kmart have been leaders in integrated retail, delivering convenient options to create a more rewarding shopping experience for our members, while blurring the boundaries between offline and online shopping,” Leena Munjal, senior vice president customer experience and integrated retail, Sears Holdings, said in the company’s release.
“Our Shop Your Way members have the option to shop anytime, anywhere and anyway they want – especially during the busiest shopping weekend of the year.”
