Laptops set to debut at Consumer Electronics Show 2014
Laptops may be feeling the squeeze from smart phones and tablets, but they’re not dead just yet. There will be some interesting laptop solutions available at CES 2014 in January. While 2013 focused on powerful laptops like Samsung’s Macbook Pro killer the Sereis 7 Chronos and tablet-esque options like the MSI Slidebook, 2014 has its own set of interesting options. Check out what’s come down the rumor mill so far.
4K laptops
There have been some little birdy whispers that after Apple didn’t debut any 4K laptops at their announcement in October that other major players including Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi were going to unveil their own 4K laptops at CES. With Sony CEO Kaz Hirai making a keynote address at the 2014 conference, that could be just the opportunity Sony needs to make a big 4K-sized splash.
Laptop-tablet hybrids
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Tablet-styled laptops debuted in 2013 and CES 2014 should see lower prices on newer models that have captured the public’s imagination. Intel appears to be on the leading edge of the tablet-laptop hybrids so hopefully we’ll hear much more about these hybrids in January.
Smaller adapters
All you wire-haters out there will be happy to know that electronics company FINsix Corporation is set to unveil the world’s smallest laptop adapter at this year’s CES. The cable promises to 4x smaller and 6x lighter than today’s standard adapters and it even features an auxiliary 2.1a USB port giving it the ability to also charge tablets and smartphones.
