Keep planning and keep going, take it from Lynn of Family Travel
How long I’ve been blogging: I was practically born writing. I am a journalism graduate and have been writing about travel for 20 years.
Blog basics: We are a trusted source for all things Family Travel — and that includes multi-generational travel, sister getaways, family reunions and adventures of every kind imaginable! I also write a syndicated newspaper column that originates in the Dallas Morning News and for the Huffington Post.
What’s a traveling lesson you learned the hard way? Luggage really does get lost. I once hiked, dined and explored throughout Morocco and my luggage never caught up with me. Now? I am a carry-on queen!
What’s the craziest thing you’ve done while traveling? I have visited with tribal leaders in Papau New Guinea and gone swimming with whale sharks and crossed into East Berlin…before the wall came down.
What’s your best advice for a family planning a vacation? Keep planning and keep going! No one is getting any younger, and your kids will be graduating from college before you know it. Make the most of your trip together and, while you are away, brainstorm about the next adventure! Also, try to unplug whenever possible. It is good for the soul.
What’s the most beautiful place in the world? It is a big beautiful world and almost every place sports something unique and special. That said, some of my favorite spots are: Palau for mind-blowing diving; Papau New Guinea for off-the-grid cultural shock waves; Montana for great fly fishing; Ireland, my genetic homeland, for soul-satisfying music, great hiking and greenery; Italy for fabulous food and wine, inspirational landscapes and great art; and New York for its “anything is possible” vibe!
My next trip: Vietnam and Cambodia. I can’t wait!
