Sugar Magnolia blog shares recipes, art and life as a new mom
Erin Keene, aka Sugar Magnolia, is a newlywed, new mom, artist and blogger. And she makes our busy lives look like a cake walk! Her blog is a wonderful mix of recipes (that she creates), beautiful artwork, DIY projects and fitness advice for new moms. Meet Erin …
Where I’m based: I am in Knoxville, Tenn. and that’s where I have lived my whole life!
How long I’ve been blogging: I have been blogging for about seven months.
Blog/business basics: I blog about being a somewhat newlywed and new mom, recipes, fashion, fitness and art.
Other blogs I love: There are so many blogs I love, but some of my favorites that I’ve read for a long time are: A Healthy Slice of Life, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life and How Sweet It Is.
Last thing I bought: A dress from one of my friends that I fell in love with after borrowing it for an event.
Fav stores to shop: Target, Free People and Jerry’s Artarama.
How did you get into art? I have always loved to draw for as long as I can remember. I took a few classes in middle school, but high school is when I really fell in love with art and realized that it was my passion. I took art classes for all of my electives and still couldn’t get enough. In college I majored in Studio Art and began to sell my pieces.
What’s your favorite thing to do with your baby boy? My favorite thing to do with my little man is to go on long walks outside in the neighborhood or to the park. He loves the outdoors and getting fresh air!
Has your style evolved sense becoming a mother? I have always had what I would consider a hippie-casual look, but my style has definitely become more laid back since I became a mother. Getting dressed up every day is just not a priority anymore, when my day is spent chasing after a wild and rambunctious one year old!
What is one recipe we have to try? This is a hard question. There is so many good recipes, but my favorite is probably my No-Bake Chocolate Chip Oat Bites. They are pretty healthy, easy to make and delicious!
How do you balance life as a mom, blogger, wife, exerciser, etc? It can definitely be hard at times, but the key is to use your down time wisely. Sometimes I want to just sit around and do nothing all day, but I’ve learned to use that time to get things that I need to do done. Once Levi goes to sleep, I have time to do the things I love — like paint and relax.
