Most travelers want to exercise — but don’t
By Aimee Heckel
Travelers have good intentions. But good intentions do not a six-pack make.
According to a new study by Room Key, a hotel booking website, 57 percent of travelers choose one hotel over another for the fitness amenities, such as a swimming pool and exercise room.
But nearly three-fourths of those guests never touch the fitness offerings after checking in.
That means we want to have the option to exercise while we’re on vacation, but most likely, we won’t.
Other interesting results from the Room Key survey:
- A fitness room ranked most important of all exercise amenities in a hotel.
- Travelers also want a hotel with outdoor activities, such as hiking or golf.
- Twenty-eight percent of travelers said they’d rather lounge on the beach or by the pool than work out on vacation.
- Only 5 percent of travelers said they go running while traveling.
