Running, hiking, and walking are all great ways to get you up and moving. However, if you prefer to get your heart rate way up, you should consider HIIT or high intensity interval training. Also known as tabata, HIIT is a short but very high intensity workout that alternates periods of full on activity with periods of rest. It’s a great way to get cardio if you are short on time or daylight as it can be done in your own living room (although you can also apply HIIT principles to the treadmill or elliptical). Check out Fitnessista.com for her “tabata Thursday” HIIT videos and get ready to sweat!
