Nordstrom celebrating Labor Day with great shoe sale
By Brittany Anas
What better way to celebrate Labor Day than with an end-of-summer barbecue, a final dip in the pool and an epic shoe shopping spree?
This weekend is a great time to shop online, with stores deeply discounting summer apparel and offering pre-sales on fall clothing. Nordstrom’s shoe sale is happening now through Sept. 2, with hundreds of shoes (including designer brands like Tory Burch, Kate Spade and Michael Kors), marked down 40 percent. Couple that with 9 percent Cash Back at Nordstrom through ShopAtHome.com and you’ve got even bigger savings worthy of celebrating this week.
With a new season approaching and a massive shoe sale, we thought now would be an opportune time to explore fall 2013 footwear trends and find shoes that fit the bill.
Let’s hear it for the boys: Women’s fall fashion is getting a little bit of a masculine edge and the easiest way to get in on this trend is to dip your toes in … literally. Do so with these suede ankle boots from Dolce Vita that have a tasseled embellishment and come in “bordeaux” coloring perfect for fall. Or, give these Ivanka Trump square-toe loafers a try. They look like they’re inspired by a tuxedo.
Smoking slippers: If your feet have spent the summer in sky-high, leg-elongating stilettos, they’ll be excited for this cozy trend. Smoking slippers are done best when they are slightly mismatched with your outfit and are bold or embellished. Think rich jewel tones, embellished loafers with ornate stitching or studding or leopard mohair covering the slipper. We’re loving these black Jeffrey Campbell slippers that are glammed up with gold sequins creating a cap toe. The shoe will jazz up your jeans in the fall and will be perfect for holiday parties come winter. Or, have fun with these smoking slippers that have a poodle silhouette on them.
Colorful athletic shoes: Bright oranges. Fiery reds. Electric blues. Running shoes are far from shy. We’ve seen them get brighter and brighter — and now they are bursting with color. It’s a great time to invest in a new pair of athletic shoes that haven’t been dirtied up by the trails you’ve been running along this summer. These ‘Free Advantage 3.0’ color-blocked Nike shoes are marked down to $67 at the sale.
