Oh, baby! J. Crew launches a new line for little ones
By Brittany Anas
Now, the whole family can wear J. Crew.
The popular brand recently debuted a new line for babies — to complement its kids’ “Crewcuts” collection, as well as menswear and women’s lines.
In two words, the line could be described as “cozy couture.” We’re talking Italian cashmere, soft cotton exports from France and a “nature baby” collection made with 100 percent organic cotton.
In a J. Crewblog post introducing the new baby collection, designers Jenny and Michelle dished on the inspiration behind the new designs. They’ll borrow some from the Crewcuts designs, which are whimsical and classic, they said.
In talking about inspiration for the collection, Michelle says: “While designing I always think to myself, ‘How will this feel for the baby? How will it feel for the person holding the baby?’ and also, ‘How will it feel after you wash it a bunch?’
Parents, you’ll be happy to know the designers worked with baby models from 6 weeks to 2 years old to make sure all the pieces are comfortable — and, of chief importance, easy to get on and off.
We’ve gone through the collection and played eye-spy with a few of our favorite pieces. Get up to 3 percent Cash Back at J.Crew from ShopAtHome.com.
- Baby anchor sweater, $145. This soft, snuggly cashmere sweater is oh-so J.Crew. The gray and white design makes it a gender-neutral sweater — perfect for a gift at a gender reveal party. This sweater will be worth passing down, too. To wash, just pop it in the dryer on the gentle cycle.
- Minnetonka baby tied shearling booties, $34. Let baby take his first steps in style and comfort. These are an online-only deal made by the family-owned Minniapolis-based moccasin maker. The super-soft sheepskin moccasin will surely keep those 10 little toes toasty this winter.
- Nature Baby striped onesie, $27. A black-and-white striped boatneck bodysuit made with certified organically grown and processed terry cotton.
