Paddleboard yoga to flying above water, here’s 5 activities to try in Orlando
By Brittany Anas
Yesterday, we told you how to score free meals at Orlando’s theme parks and how to find the best vacation deals in the Florida city.
Today, we’ve got ways you can cool off — while trying out a new water sport or adventure.
Blastoff Adventures: Probably the closest you’ll ever get to being a superhero. Or transforming into a seagull. When you strap on a jetpack you can soar above the water. For $199, you can 30 minutes in the air, plus a photo and video of yourself flying and instructions. You can learn to fly in under 10 minutes.
Do yoga on a paddleboard: Stand-up paddelboarding is all the rage this summer. But, did you know there are boards that are a bit wider to accommodate some yoga moves. Call it downward doggy paddling. Your best bet is to go out at sunrise or sunset for an ohm-my-goodness experience.
Watersports complex: For all you adventurous types, the Orlando Watersports Complex should be on your must-visit list. Beginners and intermediates, check out the Cable Park — which is the area for slalom skiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding or trick skiing. You’ll find a full-size six-buoy slalom course. Oh, you’re a pro? The Advanced Slider Park is for Wakeboarders and Wakeskaters. There are eight obstacles on the lake, two launch ramps and a whole slew of features to try out.
Fantasy Surf: Okay, so the real waves aren’t as good off the coasts of Florida as they are in California or Hawaii. But you can hone your skills in a simulated fantasy surf pool. Try out the stand-up boards or bodyboards. If you fall, it just feels like you landed on a trampoline.
Hit up a water park: We’ve given you lots of adventurous options. How about a day at Wet ‘n Wild? But sometimes its fun to just cool off in the lazy river or wave pool. Or, if you are still seeking more thrills, try out the The Storm — a “body coaster” that will make you feel like you’re riding inside a cyclone.
